"even as breast-feeding itself gains greater support from the government and medical community."

Why haven't they always supported it

Edit: "Gross, I am sick of seeing a baby attached to a boob," wrote Lauren, a mother of a 4-month-old.

:(

Firstly, look how happy the baby is!

Secondly, who is to say its actually a breast! He / She could be kissing ass!

Pathetic imo, its the natural way for babies and mothers also iirc increases the bond between mother and baby :)

Hence why baby milk was developed. if your baby wants to feed in public use a dam bottle.

But why should people have to its the natural way to boost the babies immune system with antibodies from the mother. I wouldn't be surprised if the lack or inability to breast feed affects the childs immunity eg Allergies etc.

"I'm totally supportive of it -- I just don't like the flashing," she says. "I don't want my son or husband to accidentally see a breast they didn't want to see."

13 and he didnt want to see a breast? :D

You are such an idiot!

My Fiancée breast fed our son and if he got hungry while we was out then she would feed him, simple as that. If people have a problem with it they can leave or *shocker* don't look!

Nothing wrong with it, and to be honest, if a baby attached to said boob turns you on... you've got issues.

If these people are so easily offended, I feel sorry for them.

Agreed. It's not like they wonder around the street like that - they try to be discreet to keep these whinging sods happy already yet still they want more!

Instead of complaining about it and demanding the mothers do something about it, they should do something themselves by not looking.

One of the advantages of living in Scotland where it is very actively promoted.

It is also enshrined in law and businesses cannot ask a woman to leave because she is breast feeding.

It is best both for mother and baby medically, and its also a damn sight more convenient than bottles.

My wife breast fed our daughter in public pretty well everywhere. BUT it is possible to be very discrete, draping a muslin cloth over pretty well hides everything as well as helping the baby to concentrate.

Breast feeding is totally natural and has many many advantages over bottle feeding. No bottles to clean, no milk to buy, no need to warm the milk etc etc.

Evolution doesnt get many things wrong !

When a baby is being breast feed in public you can't actually she much anyway. I mean they dont sit there with them just 'hanging out'. :D

When my son was born i got used to it very quickly and now it does'nt bother me at all. I guess peoples opinions soon change when they have a baby.

Not true.

From what I recall it provides the natural balance that has worked perfectly well for well over 30,000 years.

It provides a whole host of benefits to the mother as well.

Babies who are breastfed are generally lighter than bottle fed babies. Which in this day and age of obesity can only be a good thing.

Utter rot. The benefits of breast feeding are gained for as long as the baby is breast fed. By going onto formula at any stage negates a vast amount of good that has been done prior to using the formula.

"I was SHOCKED to see a giant breast on the cover of your magazine," one person wrote. "I immediately turned the magazine face down," wrote another. "Gross," said a third.

^^ Rofl !!

Some people are so hauty taughty. Jeese its a baby's feeding mechanism, the best food for it, and one of mans best toys. get a grip ;) !
