I sweat like a pig when exercising and after wearing a normal cotton t-shirt for a few minutes it will become drenched. I've got a couple of Saucony t-shirts for running and they're fantastic; they let my skin breathe and i can play sports or jog comfortably, but they were about £30 each.

I want to buy a fair few more of these for sports, some white, some dark but they all seem to be a bit pricey in the running shops.

Does anyone else have this problem and has found somewhere that sells these type of t-shirts for reasonable prices?
 
I get the same, I have a couple but "grew out" of them.... for the time being :D

I've no idea how much they cost me, done a Google and got some ballpark figures? Got mine ageeees ago.
 
only problem with shirts that wick well apart from merino (expensive) is that they stink after one day where a cotton shirt is good for longer before stinking.

helly hansen lifa stay dry is good stuff but not as durable as a cotton T, only use it for excercise, try not to live in it :) had my HH fire T for a few years now great shirt don't think those are available anymore though.

theres also the american apparel 50/50 cotton/polyester T at £14 which is so thin it barely feels like your even wearing a top.
i have a couple of the heather/black in medium, fits my 37 chest perfectly, loose but not silly.

Expand your search (as it seems dunker did) to more than just running shops. Hill walkers, climbers etc all use pretty much the same technology and fit, but there are more budget options.

A quick Google found this and this and a few others on the same site.
 
Find your nearest Decathlon. Basic breathable T-Shirt for £6.

Also worth checking if you're near a Go Outdoors. They usually have some base layers for around £10.

I've got base layers / Ts from Regatta, Helly Hanson, Regatta, Berghaus, Decathlon, Concurve, North Face and more. There's no noticable difference in the performance of the fabric (I soak all of them if I'm running) bar the Regatta ones are a bit scratchy comfort-wise. Get the Decathlon cheap ones and replace as needed.
 
ahh yeah good point, though i'll wear a merino base layer a good week till i wash it, even then there's no smell the stuff is magic material :)

I wouldn't wear one for more than a day or more than one session so that wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the other suggestions as well :)

Thanks. Unfortunately neither of those are my size (at the moment!!) but i'll check out my local 'walking/outdoors' shops when next in town.

You may have been joking but this is a fair question actually. I don't mind it at all when in the gym but if i'm outdoors and it's cold and windy, it's not pleasant.

Thanks, great stuff!! :) I had forgotten about Decathlon and with me wanting to buy quite a few, £6 is quite appealing. They also seem to have lots of colours. I'll pop in sometime in the next week and have a look at them and maybe buy one or two first to try them out.

I wasn't joking but it's a fair comment. I guess when I'm out and about playing sport I don't worry too much about it. :) running I guess is different.
