Brechin City - Braveheart statue

Ok why did they want the statue

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom!

Maybe they should have depicted him armed with an AR15 and with the 2nd Amendment printed on his T-shirt. That would be about as historically accurate as the way William Wallace is usually depicted, so it shouldn't be an issue.

As an artist once you've made that how do you proceed.

Like would you not just "accidentally" knock it over and suggest they get someone else to make it.

Wow, They look so proud of it too!

I have some bad news for you if this is how your parents looked when "proud" of you :D

Bigots. They probably wouldn't even like William Wallace.
This is true. Scots seem to revere him when not many actually know that much about him. The truth is, he was an evil savage and an out and out terrorist. A freedom fighter in the same way as Al-Qeada call themselves freedom fighters.

Yep, almost certainly took the pics in the tweet, penny for your thoughts on this @Derek W :D

:p

Sadly I stepped down just prior to covid as I was too busy to continue photographic duties so unfortunately that's not one of my photos :D

In terms of vandalism it should be safe enough there as it's within the grounds so won't suffer as much as it did when it was in Stirling. The guy who made the statue is from brechin so as he's retiring / downsizing his studio he didn't have room for his 13ft statue so donated it to the club. Its depiction of Mel Gibson has certainly upset the Wallace traditionalists but I'll agree it's a bizarre choice to have at the ground!

Tbf, it’s still not as crazy as Al Fayed putting a statue of Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage

WTF was that one all about?!

lol @ anyone that even read the article.

The carver literally made it as a depiction of Mel Gibson from Braveheart as following his pretty invasive surgery, he said the film gave him the will to live.

Weird. I thought the film made most people that watched it wish they were dead.
