Brechin City - Braveheart statue

lol @ anyone that even read the article.

The carver literally made it as a depiction of Mel Gibson from Braveheart as following his pretty invasive surgery, he said the film gave him the will to live.
Did you read it then? LOL @ YOUS! HAHHA

I also strongly disagree with this. Yea to some people it may seem a bit cheesy but try to get lost in the story and it's a great movie. If you invest in it then the movie is quite heart wrenching.

It's crude propaganda designed solely to cause irrational prejudice. It's the Scottish version of "The Birth of a Nation". Which was far more of a technical masterpiece than Braveheart.

Just because you discovered your irrational prejudice after watching, it doesn't mean the movie caused it. ;)

Double LOL - I was gonna say "should have copied Mel Gibson".. Its awful... its a 5 ft man if I ever I saw and it looks nothing like Mel (not that it SHOULD really)... Its an abomination!!!

Post #13 is the most Scottish thing I've ever seen :D

e: just LOL if a jokey and barely thought through thread triggers some Cine/Anglo-philes in their sweetmeats enough to miss the point entirely and lambast an awful person but tremendous actor in a crap film that was hugely successful when the real LOL was in the OP all along.

Noobs.

The Patriot (Mel Gibson again) made about 5 years later was more of the same, despite having virtually no cast/crew (other than Gibson) in both. I liked Braveheart a hell of a lot but found The Patriot a little OTT on the old "we hate the English" stuff, despite having a great English villain with Jason Isaacs.
