Hey Guys,

i dont normally create threads, but i thought maybe others would enjoy this too.

Bit of backstory -

I attended my uncles funeral last Monday, unfortunately he passed away, and as such, he had a Humanist service. The service was lovely, and one song that was played was Brian Eno - An Ending (Ascent)

Now, I had never heard this song before and during the 4 odd minutes it was on, i blubbered like a child. This song made me realise that I hadnt done much with my life, sitting at 25yrs old and wishing I had known my uncle far more than I had.

For those that havent heard it;

I had never heard a song that made me want to change, as much as this. And for that, I had never realised just how powerful a single piece of music can be when played at a certain moment in time.

Does anyone else have a certain song that makes them take a seat for a moment and think, maybe it forced you to change, realise something was missing or just simply take your breath away?

Amazing isnt it, i remember hearing it when i was going through a very bad split from my ex wife, it made me cry and think about everything i should be doing with my life, sounds cliché but it's one of those moments that changes your life.

Thats a cracking bit of music Jester!

Castor - I've been trying to find a few more similar to this this song, no such luck so far. Such an inspirational song.

You should try a lot more of Eno's stuff, especially 'Music for airports', theres just something about it that takes me somewhere else. I think the closest i got to that 'goosebumps' feeling was hearing 'Olson' by Boards of Canada. Oh and Moby's 'God moving over the face of the waters'.

This gets me too, genius.

Sorry to hear about your uncle.

My grandad was a massive Sinatra fan and wanted 'My Way' played at his funeral, which it was. Always brings back memories and makes me tear up when I hear it.

I recently bought the remastered ''Apollo'' CD to replace my original vinyl. Eno's ''Discrete Music'' is still a fav after all these years.

I love that Brian Eno track it really makes my speakers feel like they are singing.

Some of my other faves include the following:

Pink Floyd - Great Gig in The Sky

Sigor Ros - Hoppipolla

Ludovico Einaudi - Einaudi: Nuvole Bianche

Hans Zimmer - Now We Are Free

I could go on but don't want to spam the thread :o

Many thanks for the replies guys!

I'm especially fond of - Ludovico Einaudi - Einaudi: Nuvole Bianche, fabulous suggestion Crizzy.

Sigur Ros im familiar with, again another outstanding band, shame they have given up (as far as im aware) - Glosoli is my personal favourite.

Again, thanks for the wonderful suggestions!
