A friend had an X5 with run flats and had a similar issue. He went through several tyres really quickly. It turned out to be a problem with the wheel. He replaced that and hasn't had an issue since. I was very impressed with their performance though; we had four of us in the car plus luggage doing, err, just a little bit over the motorway speed limit, and we hardly noticed when it went.
