Brighton restaurants for lunch/dinner

Any recommendations? Nothing too fancy, perhaps £25 per person for lunch or £40 for dinner?

Somewhere in the center, walking distance.

As for what kind of food, not indian, or sushi, everything else should be fine.

The Salt Room on the seafront is incredible seafood, Coal Shed for meat etc, The Ivy , Franco Manca is great pizza as is Pinocchio for italian - Honest Burgers is good too

Burnt Orange is always highly rated but gets booked well in advance.
Plateau if you want small plates/wine (can get pricey).
Bincho Yakitori for Japanese.
Botanique just into Hove (20min walk or an east bus ride) or Terre a Terre for veggie/vegan.

Honestly there’s loads, it’s easier to pick a cuisine! @Rai200 may still live around here and cooks so can possibly add to the list!

You can't go to Brighton and eat at a Wetherspoons. There's so many fantastic restaurants down the Lanes.

Last time we went, we had a meal at Momma Cherri's. I had no idea it had been on Kitchen Nightmares. The food was very good.

Yea it’s pretty small and popular!

Shelter Hall is a decent place for winging it, it’s a food hall type thing with decent kitchens that rotate round every few months. Food is generally decent but can get loud and busy during summer.

I can vouch for this place, been a while since I've eaten there though. Last time was to take my Nephew there for dinner back in 2017 when He'd not long started Uni. It was recommended to me by my AirBnb host.

Etci Kitchen - absolutely delicious Turkish food

Nanninella Pizza - the only place I get pizza anymore and really affordable

Shelter hall - cheap, great selection, quick service, great view from the 1st floor

Love being in walking distance of all of these

We're so spoilt with pizza choices in Brighton, not actually had Nanninella yet, current favourite is probably VIP.

I highly recommend La Chosa. Lovely Mexican food.

I'd rate Halisco a little over La Choza since their head chef left a little while back if you're after Mexican.

VIP is great for pizza, as is History Pizzeria in Hove (my friend runs it, more of takeaway than a dine-in place), Etci is nice, 64 degrees for something fancy. Planet India do a great vege/vegan curry and they're super cheap. Burger Brothers for a dirty but very good burger.

There's also Petit Pois, nice little French Bistro with a great wine selection, Riddle and Finns has been around forever but does a great seafood based menu with local fish, catch of the day etc.

Flint House is OK. They own a few places in and around Brighton, Burnt Orange, Coal Shed, The Ginger Man/Fox/Pig etc.

Bincho Yakitori is lovely too, book in advance though as they rarely have walk ins.

Favourite place to eat, recommend getting there early! If you do go and they don't have any tables at the time they will put you on a waiting list then you can just browse around Sydney at/Kensington Gardens/Diplocks Yard etc for a little while.

Agreed with VIP for pizza.

If you're after a nice pint then Brighton Bierhaus has a great selection of local beers and cider.

Casa Don Carlos was always a favourite when we lived in Brighton. Nice tapas in The Lanes, very relaxed.

Went to the food court in the end as we didn’t have set plans or wanted set plans.

Friend had the pizza, I had the double cheese burger. Hmmmm 6/10. Not enough seasoning and not brioche and also not toasted. Fries are good 7/10.

The place itself is good though, but I would try the tacos or pizza if I go back.
