Bringing back stuff from the states

hi

Im off to Vegas in may and was wondering if i can bring any fizzy drinks or sweets back in my luggage? is there any laws that wont allow me to say bring a 12 pack of mountain jew back?

it needs to be in you checked hold baggage, other than exceeding your weight limits then no problem

Don't think there are any laws etc. stopping you, but when I asked my dad to get me some dew from India, the bottles, on opening, were very wierd...Like some kind of green fizz oozing out of it (like the fizz build up you get on shaking too hard, but concentrated?)

Convinced me never to bother trying to import dew

Aye, I brought a ton of stuff back frrom LA once, was fine in my suitcase, I had some cookies in my carry on that they checked though, just to be sure.

I believe the EU has just laid down some regulations that state MD doesn't conform with EU standards and have basically forced a lot of places like americansoda to stop *selling it. Not sure if its illegal to import it or just illegal to sell it, either way if customs get a whiff of it in your luggage you may have an issue.

*Strangely enough, it's only the original MD they're not allowed to sell, it seems they can still sell the code red and other flavours?

Otherwise:

You can bring back reasonable quantities of food that does not contain anything of animal origin. For large amounts, if it is considered to be for commercial purposes then it may be subject to checks by the port health authorities at the point of import.

If you cant bring any back you can always buy stuff over here. I got 24 cans of Welchs grape soda and 24 cans of hawaiian punch delivered on Monday from http://www.americansoda.co.uk

Its not exactly cheap, but it does at least let you stock up on soda and candy from the states
