I'm off to Bristol this weekend and looking for something to keep my ladyfriend and I entertained during the days - evenings are sorted.

I've been to the zoo before, but that's it. I will have access to a vehicle during my trip.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

- Cabot Circus shopping (at your peril)
- The Downs for a walk (great view of avon gorge)
- Zoo

are the things that spring to mind, although I'm only ever in the centre of Bristol during the evenings :(

Or, as suggested, go to bath, a much more extravagant place to be.

The city museum. It's free and massive, and they have a great wildlife photography exhibition on atm. It's right at the top of Park street so the missus can look at all the shops on the way up, and you can stop for an awesome burrito at Mission Burrito on the way down. Go on foot as parking is a nightmare in Bristol.

You can always pop in and say hi to me at work, but I can't say that'd be much fun. Another vote for the Apple (cider boat), it's quite a cool place, but it's a bit cold to sit outside at this time of the year. Plenty of good clubs/pubs around if you're after some nightlife too. SS Great Britain is pretty cool too.

Coronation Tap, as some one has already said, is an excellent place to grab a cheeky pint(s) of cider. Plenty of decent shops too in the city centre, but nothing you can't find in any other town.

The zoo is pretty good, though you'll probably be done in half a day easily.

Clifton itself is really nice and walking across the suspension bridge is quite impressive just for the view. Just across the bridge, beyond Leigh Woods, there's a park called Ashton Court estate which has some decent mountain bike tracks, or just plenty footpaths if you fancy a stroll.

As others have also said, driving and parking in Bristol is a painful experience. Beware.

Go a bit north to a village called Alveston and find Quarry Mead, just off Quarry Road. Look for no. 5 - that's where I was born

Andi.

I go quite a lot for the weekend. Spend 1 day in Bristol - plenty to do in the city centre. Then go to Bath. I wouldnt bother driving to Bath, it's 11 minutes on the train and costs a few quid and takes you right into the centre. Bath is a wonderful town to walk around.

Go to the Downs and see the suspension bridge. Take a picnic if the weather is tolerable. Ashton Court also has nice grounds and some deer to walk around.

Visit the SS Great Britain if you like that sort of thing.
