I was only a wee nipper when they were on, but I can vividly remember when the WRC did stages in Grizedale Forest, back before they reduced the GB stages to just Wales. I, for one, would love to see a return back to other British and Scottish stages of yesteryear. As it stands now, its quite a trek to see the Welsh stage of the WRC, and I strongly suspect it's the same matter for a lot of other people who adore the sport.

I know there's still grassroots rallying still going on, but it's just not the same as seeing current WRC cars and drivers scream around corners. Does anyone know why they dropped all the other stages? Was it cost or just the host town/counties saying no more?

Doesn't the British Rally Championship still use a lot of old RAC stages?

Plus, the BRC is full of WRC kit that is a few years old, so its hardly rubbish cars.

Eww, Burnley scum! ;)

I've never been to WRC but been to a few grassroots when I was much younger and went to Grizedale in November. Not sure what happened to the UK WRC stages but it would be nice to see the WRC more local. Such is life really but you do get the odd WRC spec running which is always nice to see and hear.

There was an idea toyed around a few years back to make the current rally just the Welsh Rally, and bring in another British round using other areas.

Naturally, eco hippies and green political image types weren't keen, so it was canned. :(
