Hi fellas, I come to OcUK for ideas.
I beg of you, no trolling. But this plea is likely to be ignored since this is GD...
I am going to Rome tomorrow to visit family, long story short, the wine bar my brother introduced me to over there is run by his friend. When I visited last time I get on so well with Paolo he gave me a very expensive bottle of Italian red wine as a gift, the day before I left. Needless to say I was very grateful and would like to return the favour.
I would like to give him a gift - something particularly British. Idealy food or drink, and something reasonable enough that it can be bought in duty free shop at Gatwick south terminal (I am travelling with only hand luggage and any food related products brought in from outside would be confiscated if I was searched).
I know for a fact he does not like whisky, or really any alcohol apart from wine. So I think that's rather off the list, and obviously it would be a bit of an insult to buy an Italian wine connoisseur a cheap bottle of I-don't-know-what from the duty free equivalent of Bargain Booze...
Any ideas would be appreciated, but I fly out tomorrow morning!
