British GP to use the 'Arena' circuit layout

The run off at the end of the straight past Abbey doesnt look big enough to me. Surely they will take the 'new' Abbey flat out and be hitting 180+ by the first of the double hairpins? In the photo it looks like the run off is only about 1.5 track widths, or am I missing something and Abbey will be sharper than it looks in the 'Damon Hill' track plan.

The less run off the better surely, large run off areas have made the sport more boring

The new section was designed for bikes so I'd imagine that they would put a large run off in place for the squishy riders...

New pics of the completed track...

Looks ok, apart from the mickey-mouse right-left at the tip of the new section.

Looks good and my Luffield seat looks a little better now if we get a good view of them flying at full speed down that straight!

That middle section is far from Mickey Mouse. Its not a tight section at all, but looks close enough to get some good action.

I will let you all know, off to watch some GT's at the weekend.

So feedback from drivers is why they put fast corners in. Fast corners are liked by drivers, but slow corners produce overtaking. WINRAR!

Biggles, if Abbey and Farm had been Tilke corners they'd have been mid speed corners without much overtaking either. I'd much rather the fast right/left leading to that tight right hander :)
I'm really looking forward to seeing an F1 car drive around this! :D

Ok after seeing the track onboard, I take back my 'mickey-mouse' comment. The Village/Loop section looks nice and open and good for overtaking :)

Still not sure about moving the F1 pits and SF line to the straight between Club and Abbey though.

Have you seen how far back the startline grandstands are? They're in a different county!

If you look at the last photo in Spunkey's post you can see the huge gap between the grandstand and the dark line around the outside of Woodcote which marks where the grandstands used to be.

Unfortunately this is a must for MotoGP :(. They had to move them back to give a bigger gravel trap to allow the bikes to go full speed through Woodcote, as the painted lines for the starting grids makes it slippery for bikes. They used to have to use that stupid little chicane thing which nobody liked.

I suppose the only good thing about it is that the start line wont be there forever...

Ill let you know how bad it is this weekend.
