British Grand Prix 2014, Silverstone - Race 9/19

Brundle still saying Hamilton epic on hards vs mediums, even though Rosberg was having trouble with gearbox out of the pit stop. Don't forget that Rosberg on new mediums vs Hams very old mediums should have been going much faster than Hamilton but was only 3-4 tenths. I think it just got worse as Ham came out of the pits frankly. Not that Hamilton wasn't fast but from previous pace you expect that kind of jump in lap time on new tires and lower fuel.

We will never know.

Reliability issues certainly creeping in on the Mercs.

I've said before, with say Vettel he barely got pushed by his team mate, push hard, 5 second gap then cruise mode to save the tires and on known engines that weren't particularly complex or unreliable.

This year you've got two top drivers who are very fast competing, so they are pushing each other, they can't afford to cruise and since the battle got intense they don't do sensible, they are pushing each other into failing. If they both did 2 seconds slower a lap and only went all out for the last 10 laps, MGU-K probably wouldn't fail, brakes wouldn't over heat, etc.

That is why even though that car blows everything else away, they are keeping each other, and the team, honest. They'll push each other into further DNF's though.

Ironically the last race is double points to help keep the championship alive, but if they keep trading wins we won't even need it..

Now all I need is The Finger whinging on the radio as his car breaks down, and my day will be complete. :D
