Apparently this week has been British Pie Week, but I've only found out about it today and it's looking unlikely that I'll have the time to make one this weekend.

So, budding chefs of OcUK, have/will any of you be indulging in a nice bit of pie? Personally I think you can't beat a good bit of steak and kidney!

Im bring 100% serious when I say my office fully supports BPW, and last year we had a staff outing at Lunch simply for Pies.

Were all gutted we missed it this year haaha.

Yup, I graced it with a roast chicken, bacon and creamed leek pie. Homemade rough puff pastry. Utterly epic.

Was gonna make another pork pie too, but decided I should really start my dissertation instead.... :(

No pies :( can't see me making one this weekend. Might make one Monday. I do have Ox-Tail in the freezer.

Although I did know about it, pieminister have been doing promotions all week. Haven't been able to get down to shop though.

A pub near us used to make the most epic Steak and Stilton pie. Sadly, it got taken over by a brewery who introduced their pre-packaged muck to the menu :(

However, without realising it was pie week, the wife and I had a rather tasty steak pie last night.

Chicken, Bacon and leek on to go for tea tonight along with several smaller chicken and mushroom ones for work next week.

I cheated on the puff pastry tho, used jus roll as we ran out of flour :(

Might even add a piccy if i can remember and not eat it all :D

Well, MrsSeakitchen made a fantastic Steak and Ale Pie pie this week, so I'm going to give her the benefit of doubt and assume she knew all about this pie week. It was enjoyed by me, her, and my parents who came round for a meal with us. Was very tasty. Two thumbs up.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. :D

Thanks seabiscuit I enjoyed making it and was pleasantly surprised that plain flour thickened sauce better than cornflour which id previously assumed worked best. :D

Never heard of a rue(roux)? that stuff thickens like crazy

Congrats on the nice pie. Think I'll have one of some sort this weekend

Sod the diet :)

I purchased my fiurst ever Pukka Pie this week. I had concerns whether it would be much cop for £1.50, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Loads of meat, no gristle and a really nice gravy.

My brother in law runs a cheeky little pie blog, pierate.co.uk . :)

They rate pies according to the seven C's:

1. Colour
2. Consistency
3. Capacity
4. Chewiness
5. Cheapness
6. Content
7. Condition

And god forbid they should be tricked into calling a Slice a Pie. They are also undecided about top crust. If its not encased in pastry, is it really a pie?
