One hears endless debate as to what constitutes "Britishness".

I believe that any test to assess someone's understanding of what is involved in being British should include a question as to what constitutes the perfect "Ploughman's".

So go on, what does constitute the perfect "Ploughman's"?

ham

cheese

branston pickle

tomato

lettuce

beetroot

wedge of fresh crusty bread

knob of butter

.....i might be back to add later :D

Edit: and a pint of beer

A ploughman's lunch is a cold snack or meal, comprising at a minimum a thick piece of cheese (usually Cheddar, Stilton, or other local cheese), pickle (often Branston Pickle, sometimes piccalilli and/or pickled onions), crusty bap or chunk of bread, and butter.
