Seeing them in Manchester on Monday :D

I'm a huge fan of The Living End, I've seen LTJ 100's of times, and I'm damn excited about seeing the murphys :D

Well i'm back. The Living End were (as expected) the best of the bill :D LTJ were obviously great fun, and we pretty much missed the first band so i couldnt say. It was a shame about the Dropkick Murphy's... i'd never seen them before and didnt know a whole lot of their stuff, but they were very dissapointing live. All noise really -- i'd heard so much good about them too :(

I've only heard a handful of LTJ songs but those that I've heard I really like. I might have to check out some of their albums, which would you recommend???

Tis quite a funny question considering the sheer amount of albums LTJ have released :D

I guess The Pez Collection would be a good start, considering it's a kind of 'best-of'. I've personally got Losing Streak, Hello Rockview and Borders and Boundaries. Out of those i'd get the first two, as they still play stuff from them regularly. Then i guess you could check out the latest albums, of which i know absolutely nothing about, but the stuff sounded pretty good live :p

I'm not really an authority on LTJ by the way. I like them, but i dont adore them!

Saw them last night.

The Living End stole the show, standing on his bass while playing :D

I felt quite let down with the DKM's, they were just a wall of noise, although 'Spicey McHaggis Jig' was certainly entertaining :)

LTJ were on form as expected, it was Buddy's birthday too, so that was a good laugh :)

Overall, great gig :)

It's the sheer volume of albums that has caused me to not buy anything cos I have seen so many and never known which to get!!! I'll check out the ones you've mentioned and go from there....

yeah saw em as well, i think the dropkicks had more time on than LTJ, which was a real shame, i felt like the guy said above, the dropkicks were a bit just 'noise'

When that first band came on, man they were the best performance ive seen in a bad.

but LTJ rocked for being themselves

Yeah i've seen the Living End a few times and he always does that. Pretty impressive :D And how damn good is the guitarist? You might not hear it as well live, but get some tracks and sometimes its just like  Cool!

"Wall of noise" is exactly how i, my two friends, and my sister described the DKMs. Doh. :\

Man, I remember seeing LTJ ages ago in Birmingham. Awesome gig and it was particularly funny when they told the crowd that the venue were putting an extra couple of quid on the merch, and not to bother buying it as they would be selling it themselves outside for less afterwards!

I missed this thread - I should come into this forum more often.

I went to see this line-up at the Newcastle Academy on November 9th. I'll be honest and say I only went for The Living End as I've been a fan for years. I spoke to some of my friends about Dropkick Murphys and Less than Jake (although I knew a couple of LTJ tracks) and got favourable reviews, so figured I'd hang about and see what they were up to.

TLE: Rocked. And rocked hard. That's all I can say - they were as good as ever. Even my brother, who I roped into coming with (and normally only listens to really weird stuff, but that's another thread) reckoned they were one of the better bands he'd seen live (and he sees a lot!).

DKM: A waste of time. They were so bad, I didn't even see LTJ - I left twenty-five minutes in the DKMs due to sheer boredom at the tripe they were offering up - the kiddies at the front were going mad and all I could think was "This is just noise - I mean, they look like they're having fun, but it's just noise (and the vocalist kept punching the air and trying to look hard - made me laugh)". Their rendition of Amazing Grace was the final straw...

LTJ: See above - they never ever got the chance to impress me. I went to the pub instead and got slaughtered.

Overall, a successful evening. I watched a band I like (for nowhere near long enough) and then got wrecked.

Bonus.

Greets to the other TLE fans in the thread :)
