Broadband AND dial up on the same line?

Hi,

A friend of mine has broadband but also wants to connect, on a weekly basis, to his old ISP via dial up.

This will prevent them from terminating his old account, and removing his web pages.

So far each time he tries to connect via dial up Windows tells him the modem is busy. Before he had broadband this never happened.

Any ideas?

I take it he does have a filter between the modem and phoneline?

is he using a usb modem ????

if so what modem is his dial up connection set to use may have been changed to his usb modem,

worth checking,

should work fine we have a dialup modem here for faxing inbound and outbound no problems

Should work without problem as we did this for a few years before going wireless.

Are you sure the cables are all plugged in correctly and that the telephone line isn't in use? Even something as simply as the beep...beep...beep that the 1571 service makes when you have a message waiting can screw up modems.
