Evening all, I'm going to be moving to rented accomedation, and want to move my bband which is currently with Aquiss.

They are quoting me a £50 connection fee to add bband to my new line (which will be installed by BT) as there is no current BBand connection on the line.

Is that correct? Or could I get it cheaper any way? Obviously they are a monthly contract rather than fixed for 12 months, how much would I pay for connection if i drop them?

It's right. The only way you'll get an ISP to forget about the activation charge is to sign up for a contract.
