I didnt know which section to put this in so i apologise in advace if you think this is a audio visual problem rather than an internet problem.

Basically i have a new plasma tv in the lounge and in the study i have a basic 512k bt broadband connection. The problem is when the tv is on the internet does not work, i am not talkin about Sky bein on either i jst mean the tv. I have had AV and BT enigneers out to the house and neither have a clue.

I had a theory that maybe because it was an old modem it was some how conflicting with the new tv (its the old green/blue sting-ray modem i dont know if bt still use those).

So any way i was wondering if anybody has come across a problem like this before and if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Cheers.

not sure if its any help, but it may be worth covering your modem (if its external) in tinfoil, sounds weird i know, but i remember at school they had an interactive white board which caused a lot of interference so they covered the back of it with tinfoil which fixed the problem.

Sounds like power. Plasma Tv shouldn't interfere in a deifferent room. I think your phone line is either running close to or wound around a power cable which is increasing in current when the TV is turned on.
That or the main is at breaking point and the sudden voltage drop to your modem transformer causes it to trip out.

The latter is less likely. try plugging the modem into a different socket and see what happens. Or vice versa, move the TV upstairs and see what happens.
