hi all, my friend has asked me to look into getting broadband for him, and i have done a check to see what ISP's are in his area, have any of you got any opinions on these, as i haven't had any dealings with them, he wants to use it for xbox live and youtube and college work

thanks:)

list of ISP's in his area:

Sky
TalkTalk
Orange
AOL
BT

A little bit of searching through the forums, or even google, will throw you out masses of pages on isps.

edit: is a crap site, but a place to start...

oh and when looking at 'unlimited' packages, be sure to look out for FUP or traffic shaping/throttling.

Those aren't the only ISPs in the area. They're only ISPs with an LLU operation in the area (where BT = BT Wholesale). There are dozens of other options, but what suits him will depend on how much he wants to pay, how much he intends to download a month and what other features he's looking for.

That site seems to have had the hell spammed out of it; I'd suggest www.thinkbroadband.com.

just to update you all my friend, went with the Post Office broadband, against my own advise, and he has allready having problems with it. :D lol
