Hi,
Recevied this e-mail this morning from bt broadband about usage.

Usage Allowance
Dear Customer,

This email is to advise you that last month you exceeded the usage allowance for your BT Broadband service.

Your current monthly usage allowance is 20GB.

Your total usage for last month was 38 GB.

Don't worry, we're not going to charge you this month. However if you exceed the allowance next month, a charge of £0.60 for every extra GB you use will be added to your next bill.

If you wish to avoid usage charges completely, you can always upgrade to BT Total Broadband Option 3, offering Unlimited Usage for just £24.99 per month. To upgrade, please go to http://www.bttotalbroadband.bt.com

For the latest information on our monthly usage allowances and charges, please see our Fair Usage Policy. If you have any questions about this email, please call 0800 707 6044, between 8am and 5pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Thank you for choosing BT Total Broadband.

Best wishes,

BT Total Broadband team

Is there any way to measure the amount you download?

how much are you paying per month. for a 20gig download limit?

might be worth moving to unlimited (with another company) if your doing that amount of data per month

There are loads of ways to measure how much you're downloading. How effective they are depends on how you connect to the internet, i.e. things like DUMeter count everything going in and out your network connection.

i assume thats for 8mb..

might be moving to BE. they do 8mb for £8 per month for the rest of 2008 and then £15pm

minimum contract only 3 months (iirc)

completely unlimited download.

just change ISP's if you think you'll be going over the 20gb.
The BE one sounds good for £15pm to me, may even switch myself soon. Been paying £24 for mine!

Don't ignore!! A 0.60 per GB is something you would like to be aware of at the end of next month? I moved from BT because they imposed that. :)

lol.. i was ingnoring my comment which said, i would suggest moving to another company that didnt impose any download limits and would be cheaper than BT

when i saw that he was in a contract :(

Have read some of the thread but most discussion seems to be about LLU

As my exchange isn't unbundled im stuck with regular O2 Home Broadband Access, but it looks to be better than what I use just now.

So anyone use it for gaming? Whats the latency like?

And it states there are no download limits, how true is this? Usually there is some kind of upper limit, but I couldn't see anything on their site.
