Well, where do I begin?

Had a phone line reactivated/installed by the post office yesterday (A two hour extravaganza involving climbing two telegraph poles). Phoned BE this morning to place order for ADSL. Told I lived too far from exchange.

Now according to samknows and the view from my window I am approx 200 to 300 meters from my local exchange. (kemptown in Brighton) not the 11 miles that BT line database says and that Be won't budge from. Although BE do admit that I am close enough when they use my postcode!

Be supervisor says I need to call BT, BT says its not them and post office says that when they run the tests I am able to receive ADSL+2 at 17 to 18 mbps and that wouldn't be so if I was 11 miles away.

So basically no movement from any side at the moment. Am I being naive in thinking that this database will update soon and sort itself out in a few days?

If not anyone got any idea on how to proceed?

I highly doubt it will update itself, at least anytime soon anyway!

Keep nagging at BT to update it or re-assess your line statistics/distance etc.

On the other hand, why the hell can't BE just accept the order anyway? It's obviously going to be different once installed so why not just bypass the "computer says no" and just do it.. I'm sure they can over-ride it.. Infact, I doubt it even stops them!
