Broadwell-K i7 5775C/i5 5675C

Tried an older bios, now it won't boot. I suspect this has something to do with CPU compatibility on this BIOS. Particularly annoying since it said it supported 5th generation processors.

So now my PC won't boot and I have sold my old haswell CPU -_-

Looks like only versions 48,49 have the Broadwell cpu microcode inside them, version 49 microcode is 12.
There is a v13 microcode so looks like MSI ain't got round to updating to latest.

A mate of mine came round and we used his 4690k to fix my system, he has an Asus ITX z97 based board. Popped my CPU in and it overclocked without much hassle. Didn't run it very far since it was more just proving it worked.

So now I guess its a case of wait on MSI or buy a new motherboard, by which point a different socket and X99 may make more sense... =(

what motherboard did your buddy use? impact vii or the z97i plus ??

Having a bizarre issue where it won't go past its factory max overclock, it maxes out at 3.6ghz even under load with good temperatures.

The multiplier shows it will go further, it just wont.

Any recommendations?

I have the same problem on my Asus Maximus VII Gene Z97 -motherboard, latest BIOS (3003). Just sent an email to Asus asking about this. I earlier had i5-4690K overclocked to 4.4GHz on this same board.

you may be in luck.. I had the same problem ... luckily I fixed it before I nearly sold the motherboard... ok now.. updating the bios in the bios will not work! because the ME version still remains the old version

you need to go on asus website and grab the intel 5th gen updater program and download the latest bios, before this update the intel ME version to the latest one or one after july once youve installed latest intel ME in desktop, open up the asus winrar and click update a window will pop up and tell you to browse your computer select the bios you just downloaded and wait for it to finish.. restart and you should be all good!

I never solved the problem, I had a chain of about 30 emails to MSI with them saying that disabling OC genie would fix it.

By this point I had pulled out the motherboard and replaced it with a Gigabyte Z97 board which seems to work fine. However it is a shame since the older MSI board was a much better motherboard.

To answer the above question my friends motherboard was this:
