Hi
Ive had mirrored SATA disks now for ages, I decided to break the raid and go back to normal disks. Ive now done this, but now I cant see the normal disks in windows. They are detecting ok in the bios, but nowhere in windows device manager or disk manager can I see them.

I would have though they would have just apeared as unpartitioned disks, but nope... :(

Edit: Hmm I can see the disk via the Nvidia SATA IDE Device driver, (primary/secondary)

How did you break them? If you used the bios to turn the controller from RAID to SATA, then i think you have to reinstall the controller again (with a different driver), as it will be seen as a different one. At least thats how it worked in my old gigabyte motherboard.

For instance

Raid1 - Promise Fasttrak Controller
Normal SATA - Promise xxx Controller (3 numbers or something)

hmm ok, i'll try and remove the SATA driver and see if it installs a new one.

I think you'll need to force the driver change, if you just let it re-install it will put the same one back again. Find the correct driver on your mobbo support CD and tell it to install that one.

Having said that, I also had the same problem a year back when I took my RAID down - but I'll be ** if I can remember how I got round it!
I think there is a hidden partition or sector when it's configured as RAID, and you have to remove and re-create the partition. Just how I did that I can't remember - I messed about for an hour or so before fixing it.
