Broken 7700k

there will be little difference between the 12700K and the 12700/12700f.

I'd go with a 12700 and B660 motherboard. Performance review of this combo here:

On the other hand, the price gap isn't that much between the unlocked/locked models. B660 boards are £100+ at the moment.

I'd say get the 12900 or 12900f, but these are a bit overpriced at the moment in the UK.

Just to say I have that Asus strix F board and it's brilliant. Not sure if that influences your decision but I am really happy with it paired with a 3700x and 32gb of 8pack memory.
 
There's a pre-order for the i9 12900F for £490 now, and another one that's out of stock for ~£470 on another website.

Not great, not terrible.

These really should be compared with the prices for a 12900KS, with 5-10% higher all core clock speed for probably around £600-£700.
