I need to get my Dell Latitude monitor replaced or repaired quickly. Had a look on the Dell website and it wasn't clear exactly what avenue to follow for Dell repairs.

I left a small sharp thingy on the keyboard and closed the lid, resulting in a crack in the lower left corner of the screen. This has blanked out 25% of the viewing area, and its slowly growing to the other side.

There are a few companies offering laptop repairs. Are these legit? Or should i follow proper Dell procedures for repairs. Important I get it done asap as this is my primary work machine.

Thanks,

Order a replacement panel yourself from ebay or a site selling the part.
Follow the Dell replacement instructions from the Dell website, they are very clear with pictures to make life infinitely easier.

It's an easy enough job to do (presuming you have some decent screwdrivers).
Will be a good amount cheaper to do it yourself, should be quicker also as you just have to wait for the part to be delivered, swapping it out is a quick enough job.

Thanks, turns out it was a phone call away.

New screen is £180 delivered, bummer. Lesson learned.

I got just the part. No instructions. I had to call the sales person to send me a manual from Dell.

Im guessing this will take 20 mins to install. It all looks a bit fragile...

I completely disassembled my laptop from following the Dell instructions, and gently removed the screen from the display bezel. Only to find the screen they sent me has a different connection to my current LCD.

Its going back for sure.
