My parents have a pretty old Toshiba DVD player, and I bought them a Wharfdale DVD writer. I tested it out at the weekend by burning a sky+ recording onto a 16x DVD+R (the main reason they wanted one- to save stuff off the sky box)

When i put the DVD in the Toshiba drive it made some clicking from the unit and a disk error appeared on the screen. It now won't play any DVDs and will try and read them before coming up with disk error.

I turned the unit off for about 3 hours when I went out, it worked with jurassic park( not dual layer) and then stopped working when I tried some other DVDs. When i put JP back in it didnt work again which was wierd.

Any clues? I dont think the Drive is 16x compatible but I wouldn't have expected it to damage it.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it was already on the way out. That shouldn't of damaged it at all.
