mate handed me his laptop to recover the files from it, it's in warranty, but just wondering if this could maybe be a loose connection? or is it buggered.. :)
 
that's the first thing i tried, press FN + the key that has a screen on it, doesn't seem to play ball

^not sure if this laptop needs to be in windows to use that function though.
