My external hdd wouldnt power up so after many checks have discovered that the disk itself will not spinup.
I even removed the disc and conneted it to my pc via the ide cable
The dam thing is not being recognised by the pc.
Not happy as there is 3years of data and my life on that disc (drive is only 7months old...). It now all seems up the swanny. I am a bit annoyed. No, I am really annoyed (but not as much as |I was when that child threw a egg at my car).
So any one any ideas?????
How much to send drive away and get them to do a recovery???

Many thanks

These kind of things do crop up and they are a pain. Almost everyone only starts taking (and testing) backups after they lose a load of data.

The only way out of this is a data recovery firm as a poster above has said, they will almost certainly be able to get the data back.

The main reason I'm posting is to commiserate about your data loss - you never realise what you had until you lose it.

You could try getting/buying an identical drive as what was in your caddy and swapping the logic board over. If it works, it's probably cost ya less than £50, if it doesn't it's usually at least a couple of hundred notes for professional recovery... depends on how much the data is worth to you.
