Broken Pixel Buds? Good luck getting Google to replace them.

What a sad act, truly.

The sheer glee people here must have, waiting to launch a barrage of insults and wise cracks, over literally nothingness, to somehow bolster their egos and make their own sad existences feel better.

Wonderful entertainment though I must say.

Complaining about people doing to you exactly what you did to that customer service agent...classic.

Let's not forget, I asked for other people to share their experiences with Google support, not to have an assessment of how politely or impolitely I interacted with them, for which I don't really care, I got the desired result, so despite the unnecessary criticism, it literally had no bearing on the outcome.

So for all those that responded out of turn, you derailed what could otherwise have been a fairly informative discussion.
I had a pair of pixel buds that had stopped connecting a few months back. Turns out that they were 2 months out of warranty, typical!

I went to use their online support function anyway and found them to be super helpful. I made sure to be polite, it is someone doing their job after all, and came away with a brand new replacement pair. Very impressed, would use again :)

OP have you considered not being an arse next time?

I've received excellent support from Google in the past.

But herein lies the problem with making comparison or giving experiences. Unlike you I don't act like a massive bell when speaking to support people - so that's probably the main reason why I got a good service.

OP I read your transcript and it's clear you were acting pretty obnoxiously. You should take it on the chin and listen to what people are saying, maybe try and be a bit nicer in the future.

Support people have a script to follow so you often just need to follow it to get a result.

I've never had bad customer service from anywhere like Amazon/Google probably because I'm happy to role through whatever script they're made to go through while I'm doing other stuff without acting like a spoilt child.

Discussion about how much of a to55er you are? :)
I think there’s only one way that’d go!

Also the brass neck on you to accuse others of speaking out of turn when you were an absolute helmet to the member of staff you spoke to is incredible.

Your behaviour towards customer support is very much relevant to customer support. Nobody has derailed anything.

I'm reminded of a letter from an Earl a few centuries ago giving advice to his son on being a person of good character. A key part was about how to treat servants. The Earl would have used polite phrasing for that time when expressing their opinion of you, but the meaning would have been the same. You don't care how you treat people who can't defend themselves against you, only about what you can get from them. The Earl might have called you a person of low character. I'd call you an arse. But I agree with the Earl on the basic principle - how a person chooses to treat people is an important factor in making a judgement of that person.

Update for those interested.

I sent the broken Pixel buds back using DHL as per Google's instructions, using their prepaid label. DHL later on refused the item and returned it to me, because they only allow a maximum of two lithium ion batteries per package, and the Pixel buds contain three, one in the case, one in each earphone.

I informed Google of this and they thanked me for making them aware of this and decided I no longer needed to return the faulty ones.

I had a look this evening with a view to repairing them. Having carefully pried the case apart (it's not really designed to be opened it would seem) I unscrewed the logic board at the bottom of the case and found the push-fit connector for the interconnecting cable loose. I applied a dab of hot glue to it, and all is working well, bar some marks on the case where it was opened.
