Sorry,missed your post,my "new" one arrived today,i was at work,my daughter baby sat at home for me and said it came in a sealed container,and the courier just swapped them over.
Good job Sony,very impressed,they said i could have had it delivered to my work,but the thought of lugging it about on my pushbike put me off.

Had a phonecall with Sony today who will be replacing mine tomorrow (rang em at 4pm today, holy moly thats fast customer service), and they will indeed bring a box for you to pack your broken unit into, a straight swap as this gent has said.

i did this after buying another PS3 after selling my first one.... ring them up and they sort out the song list so you can download them again - they register your new PS3 against the songs you downloaded before.

Took a few days at there end...
