broken sata connector

i was a wee bit clumsy recently when doing something to my pc, anyway i broke the sata connector, not the power cable but the sata data cable connector, the pins are in tact and on the drive but the plastic sticky out bit next to the pins broke off inside the cable, i managed to remove the plastic bit from the cable end and refit the cable and position the cable so it will still operate ok.

is there a way of fixing this connector so make the connection more secure, i thought of super gluing the cable connector to the terminal on the hard drive, is there a better way than this?

means i will get little for it when if i try to sell it on.

Design of SATA plug is possibly the most idiotic design in history of x86 platform. Stiff cabling, plugs on both ends prone to snapping, and whole thing designed to take plastic connectors only.... oh my...

There are cables already on the market (check well known auction site for example, where SATA power and SATA data cables are moulded into one combo connector (looks kind of like PATA connector). This will at least keep your data connection secure as the plug will rest on more sturdy power connector. This type of connector often features also a latch that fits into ridges you see on both sides of data and power connectors on most drives, so the thing is more secure.

Be careful - motherboard can be rendered useless if something like this happens on the other side of the cable though.
