Can you RMA a drive that has a broken SATA connector?

I have an 80Gb WD drive here and I was wondering if I should just bin it or go for an RMA against it?

Have any of you guys RMA'd a drive with a broken SATA connector before?

It is the plastic L bit and it was broken when removing the drive. :(

It was a bit flimsy though to be fair.

The drive should still work. And it is the plastic bit that holds the connector in place.

I was wondering if I RMA'd the drive if they would replace it for a nominal fee (or free is I get really lucky :D )

I did the same thing to my Maxtor diamond 10, The plastic bit that holds the connector broke off so i just glue gunned the cable to the drive, works perfectly. Means i'm stuck with that cable now but the glue can easily be broken.

Better to bodge it than bin it ;)

Even a big lump of blue tack would do the job, cannot believe you were considering chucking away a perfectly fine drive because of a tiny problem which can easily be worked around
