Broken tiles in delivery

No. @Delvis has posted a copy of a standard t&c of these companies.

1 or 2 in a crate I wouldnt expect replacing, 18.... yes new crate please.

This is where percentages don't work.

If i'd ordered 20 and 2 were broken (lets say chipped on the corner) then they're more than likely usable for edging or those awkward gaps, and wouldn't be worth the hassle of trying to have replaced.

If i'd bought 100 tiles though, 10/20 damaged would be completely unacceptable. Even more unacceptable is the shop expecting me to add on an extra 10-15% more for breakage.

Notice how they lump in to those T&Cs, breakages caused due to your own fault - cutting/wastage, with those that aren't your fault - damage in transit etc.

In reality, i'd imagine a tile shop wouldn't contest against this anyway, as other posters have said it's more than likely in breach of consumer rights.

The thing is does that actually trump your consumer rights. I'd want them to replace a single item broken.

So would I, I'd have been a nightmare if I had any broken :p

As for checking them, you can't, they come in crates which are ridiculous to take apart, good luck checking all of them

Those clauses are 100% not enforceable and they would be laughed out of court but they never get there because the retailer knows it.

They just take their chances that people don’t know any better and replace any where it’s clear someone needs/wants a replacement.

Anything outside the odd breakage I’d be expecting replacements. Even if I didn’t need them I’d be expecting a part refund for the broken ones or replacements. For starts I expect to get what I pay for and any broken ones can’t be kept as spares in case i need to replace one later down the line.

It’s a bit different when your contractor is supplying the goods, it’s really up to them to sort it out and make sure they have enough.

1 or 2 per delivery is acceptable but anymore we are straight on the phone to the suppliers.
We just had 120 900 x 600 tiles delivered yesterday on 3 pallets.

At £25 per tile, you cannot accept too many breakages.
