Tried to take the wheel of the wifes car last night and managed to break the key for the locking nut on her wheel. Would a tyre fitter/garage be able to remove the nuts with some sort of universal key or a specific device they might have?

Don't really want to order a new key as I just want to replace the lock nuts with regular nuts as I really wouldn't like that to happen too far from home with a puncture. Wheels are well dinged up anyhow so wouldn't imagine they'd get stolen..

Also wondering, my wife is in the AA and we'll probably check up what they cover in case they might be able to do it. I'm sure they're bound to have something as I'm guessing folks have lost keys etc..., didn't have their key when the AA have been called out.

Any ideas and help appreciated.

Edit: It's a Corsa if that makes any sort of difference.

depends really, you would be best phoning round some garages tbh. my dads xtype had a similer problem but it was the wheel nut that was broken and wouldnt come off the locking nut was just spinning it round, had to take it to a local jag indy and he had to drill the nut out. he had 2 gone on the car so we just got them replaced with normal nuts

Lol thanks guys, should have searched first. Hopefully should be straight forward enough to sort out then.
