Hattrick, although it's not more everyone. You need patience and dedication as training/promotion plans can take years to conclude.

Planetarion is always a good laugh but needs a lot of dedication to do well. Used to be 20k+ players and the round that's coming to a close soon had just 600-700...

Good lord, I used to play that back in 2000 when it first started! I spent quite a while playing Travian which got quite addictive.

Yeah I played at the start too. The first few rounds then one or two of the pay-to-play rounds.

It lost a LOT of players when it became pay-to-play which also made the game a little too competitive. I checked it out again recently and it's still going but a lot of the old alliances have disappeared and I couldn't find anyone I knew from before on IRC.

Recognise your nick, from Fury/Xanadu/ROCK perchance? :)

One I used to love was Utopia, brilliant game, joining a kingdom with other people then going to war against other kingdoms. Needs good team work to get wins. Used to play planetarion when it was new, then starsphere (closed down now) and then planetia. Played utopia again a year ago and still had loads of players. Just wish Dominion was still functioning.

Yes I was in Xanadu for quite a while and finished there. There were lots of IRC channels you may have seen me in though as I knew a lot of players from other alliances - even a few foreign language ones (Dutch/Lithuanian).

The social/political aspect of the game was the best part.

Which alliance were you in?

Probably Xanadu where I recognise the nick from then, I was in Fury for a couple of rounds in the early days and then moved to Xanadu but think was only there for 1 round before the main ally pulled out of PA and I just followed whatever wing of it I was in at the time. Finally found myself in Rock though and stayed there as a DC and BC for a while :)

Few very good friends in Rock although have since all moved on I believe.

All gone now aren't they?

These were alliances with 100's of players once. The same thing happened with counter-strike, can't find anyone I used to know on IRC.

Few people still play - ~680 players this round (100 ticks left), I came back for this round as my dad asked me to and found playing solo a challenge in such a small universe.

Rock are still there and there's a few other familiar faces but obviously nowhere near the volumes of people as it was in its prime (pre-jolt)
