So, after weeks of trying to diagnose this myself I have to come to a conclusion my hardware simply doesn't play well with chrome/firefox.

If I try to use chrome or firefox they will usually crash when loading a random page. Sometimes its fine, sometimes it simply locks up for a minute freezing my audio/explorer/everything else =)

My spec is in my sig but I'm not seeing any indication for the freeze in windows logs etc. Is there any software that will run a detailed log during the freeze.

It sometimes feels like its the poor SSD's fault, I have tried chrome on a Ramdrive and also on HDD's to no avail.

Just thought I would post on here before I lose hope. Because jesus christ if anyone else out there is using Opera they will know my pain.

sounds like you have more than a browser problem tbh, do a fresh install as that sorts all problems out apart from hardware, with fresh drivers and a clean install then try again, a pain yes, but better than pulling your hair out

Well, I might be buying a new system this weekend (very excited) but I will try a fresh install again. This time ensuring all the drivers/bios/SSD firmware are up to scratch before touching the internet :)

This. Run a memtest and run stability tests with prime95, intel burn test etc etc get rock solid stable before blaming anything

No point buying new hardware and overclocking it badly either, your 1055T is still a decent chip :p

Hang on. This makes no sense.

So you're saying that everything works ok except if you use Chrome or Firefox?

So you can play games, use office and browse using IE etc with no issues?

I'm switching to a 3930K, 680 etc due to the amount of stress im throwing at them =)

I do agree though, this 1055T has been to hell and back and has more then payed for itself.

I'm an enthusiast /blush/ I NEED chrome. When loading certain websites it freezes everything up.

You didn't answer the question!

It's unlikely that your PC is only having problems with Chrome / Firefox.

I guess if you're getting a new machine it doesn't matter though :D

IE and Opera work, I think its something to do with my hardware and the webkit the shiny browsers use. (I think its webkit...?)

I have tried 32 and 64bit versions on chrome and also I let chrome do its own thing without the install, they all come to the same wall

Check the versions.... Chrome's is inbuilt and may be different to IE which is an external plugin.

If they are different then maybe chrome's version has hardware acceleration problems with your machine. Disable the acceleration

I disabled hardware acceleration with high hopes in firefox and it still hung up. I'm at work at the moment but will try playing around when I get home.

Is there any logging software that might pick anything up?

Windows 7 has crash logs built in to the OS.

Have you done a clean install of your OS yet? Any number of DLLs could be corrupt.

Have you updated your NIC and GFX drivers yet?
