Hi

Anyone been to bruges?

I wanna take the mrs for our anniversary over the weekend, not this one but in a couple of weeks time..

If yes, can you recommend somewhere nice to stay? and best relaxing way to get there other then plane , departing from london..

any advice would be appreciated..

Im on a budget of around £350

thanks in advance..

Very nice place to go. Been twice and it's a lovely place. Boat trips, nice crestaurants, chocolate shops and historical features and buildings.
Will enjoy it.

you can get the ferry from hull, an overnight crossing. its cheap but not exactly luxurious. I did it last year.

It's nice, but I wouldn't want to spend more than a weekend there - amazing architecture and great beer are all well and good, but there's not much to 'do' there.

Eurostar to Brussels is probably the easiest - however the train from Brussels to Bruges can be nasty (crowded - we had to stand half of the way).

Agree on both counts.

I've been, but only because the ferry goes from Hull. I don't see why anyone who wasn't within reach of that ferry would make an effort to go ;)

I've been several times and I think it's very nice. If you go into the main square, there is a little street going off it where there are quite a few lively bars, and theres lots of other quieter bars and restaurants scattered around. The ibis is not bad. It's about a 5 minute walk from town. The rooms are nothing special but the food in is good if you eat in the hotel and they have a nice bar that opens all night.

thanks peeps,

but can you be a bit more specific and recommend somewhere to stay ? on my budget

I will only be there for 2 nights and I am not looking for ibiza part two, somewhere to explore a little , chill, eat good food and sightsee really..

A bit more help would be most appreciated..

cheers
