Hi all,

Was just checking some F1 vids out on the tube, as one does :)

And I came across a comment which I've thought about myself during some of the races this year:

"The problem with Brundle and Coulthard is not the fact that they're boring, I find them quite entertaining. It's the fact that they seem to have forgotten they are British commentators on British television so they are supposed to get excited when a British driver wins, when Button won the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix they were more concerned with Vettel than the fact that their boy was about to win the best race of his career.

They don't need lessons from James Allen but they do need to liven up."

This is a comment on this video:

Sadly, I have to agree with that. I've found myself thinking the same on a few occassions.

But, let me make clear that I am a massive massive fan of MB And DC and I think they have a great chemistry and work together brilliantly. For me, MB has a great voice for an F1 commentator, and DC's voice is easy on the ears as well. The pair's technical assessments during the race etc. are superb and they're enjoyable to listen to, even sometimes having a few jokes here or there.

But I do miss the commentators like Murray/Allen who really pitched their voice up and got ultra excited when it mattered. Does anyone else think this?

Just so you know their commentry goes all around the world not just the BBC in Britain

Yeah they mentioned during the British race Australian viewers were listening to them ( the Ricciardo thing ) ...

Sorry, I didn't so much mean get more excited about British drivers - I meant that they don't really reach that level of excitement with any of the drivers.

But then I am grateful for them, and don't want to be too greedy, they're a million times better than Leggard!

Much prefer them to Allen who didn't have a clue, the amount of times in races Allen would get all exited that someone car was about to explode in a ball of scorching death, only for brundle to have to point out that it was just a locked wheel.

Much prefer brundle and coulthards more technical and knowledgable style, they manage to explain enough for those that don't know much without being moronic like Allen was.

Not that it ever bothered me that much, but fixed :).

Oh and Brundle and DC are fantastic. Best commentary pairing we've had since Murray and Martin before Murray got a little too old.

So far loving the MB/DC pairing, have to say i haven't really noticed the lack of excitement thing.

I find it quite nice that they aren't majorly pro/anti certain drivers and at least seem to try to remain impartial.

Hang on? Didn't everyone complain about the Leggard/Brundle pairing being way to obsessed and bias towards the British drivers, especially Lewis?

You can't have it both ways!

I like them both but dc still has the rbr loyalty and you can tell in what he says.

Brundle will say something like vettel is being caught quickly but dc will pop in and say "I think you might find he's just turned the engine down and saving his tires blah blah"

I didn't mind those :p although I think he multiple orgasmed when button won his first race.

They are just plain crap. Can't commentate at all, often get the technical/strategy stuff totally wrong. There really is nothing good at all about them. Mb should just do grid walk and join the forum. Dc has no place.

A bit harsh. I will say that Brundle was asleep for the first half of the race on Sunday. He failed to call Vettels brilliant start and DC had to interput the silence when Hamilton went wide at Brooklands.

Put it this way. At no point in the 2011 season have I raged at something the commentators have said or not said.

That puts them above any pairing since Murray Walker left.
