Talking to a friend about not having to use the lockdown corned beef or tins of beef stew and apparently his misses still refuses to eat beef because of BSE and doesn't let their kids eat it either.I thought that this was sorted out years ago that the transmission is now so low you now have more chance of winning the rollover Lotto?

I'm not going to stop , what else is there to have with Mustard... :D

My brother in laws wife is the same, she won't justify it, just says it isn't worth the risk.

Corned beef is foul - my cat's food looks and smells more appetising.

However I will happily eat beef, be it burgers, mince, steak, roast, etc. In terms of "risk", I'm more likely to die in a crash every time I get in the car than catch BSE/CJD.

Mustard? WTF is wrong with you? Mustard is for ham, for beef you have horseradish.

I bet you're one of those savages who has mint sauce with meats other than lamb as well?!?!

BSE? There was a case last year I think it was.

2 years ago in fact.

Edit:
Though the meat would never likely enter the food chain.

Sorry, i said UK. it's not, it's England and Wales. I'm dumb :p

In May of this year, England and Wales reached the milestone of 11 years without a new case of the disease, qualifying the two countries for official negligible risk status from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) in Paris.

If granted, it could open up the international market for mesenteric fat – used in many industrial applications – for the first time in 24 years.

It's not the beef you need to worry about, it's salmonella egg-mageddon.

Edwina Currie (née
Cohen; born 13 October 1946) is a British former politician, serving as Conservative Party Member of Parliament from 1983 until 1997. She was a Junior Health Minister for two years, resigning in 1988 during the salmonella-in-eggs controversy.

By the time Currie lost her seat as an MP in 1997, she had begun a new career as a novelist and broadcaster. She is the author of six novels, and has also written four works of non fiction. In September 2002, publication of Currie's Diaries (1987–92) caused a sensation, as they revealed a four-year affair with colleague (and later Prime Minister) John Major between 1984 and 1988.

has there been a resurgence?

I was in hospital recently and on multiple occasions was asked question related to CJD

has there been a resurgence?

Maybe someone could think of a better topic so not to give the impression of a new outbreak , sorry about that.

My friends wife is just the same as SixTwoSix inlaw wife from what i can gather.

What about Apple Sauce on Lamb? :D

Did people actually die of vCJD from beef in the UK? I remember that at the time most deaths from CJD were to do with poor processing of blood products and people on certain treatments were exposed.
I remember the hoohaa about BSE wrt humans but it never seemed to come to fruition. Although stopping what was plainly a ridiculous and unsafe practice in animal feed was absolutely necessary.
