BSOD "driver power state failure" What does this mean?

Had this yesterday

Just prior I was aware that the graphics card fans were working hard and with card temperatures high despite no apparent GPU usage (Using afterburner)

no problems before or since!

Is this a one-off or am I likly to have developing problems??

(Oh, WIN 8 btw)

It could be hardware but unlikely most probable cause is a driver issue, I'd start there.

Have you changed anything recently on the computer, installed any new software, updated drivers anything else prior to the problem occurring?
