Im trying to install vista to my new pc and i keep getting bsod with:

IRQL not less or equal - as the fault

anyone got any ideas?

there is a possibility that the copy of vista may be a oem version, would this give these symtoms?

regards

Jody

Not going well for you is is Jody? I doubt it would be an oem problem more likely drivers or settings. Search is your friend...

Sounds like a memory problem to me. Is the memory getting the correct volts and are the timings correct. Could be bad ram run memtest to see;)
Try using just one stick of ram installed.

would only having 1gb ram installed at time of install affect it? It has no drivers loaded yet plus all the settings are set to optimal F7 in bios which is standard i believe.

and no its not going too good today

thanks jody

No problem let us know how you get on:D

well I ran memtest and there seems like theres no problem with the ram, which is strange, although i have it in my other pc now and its running no probs - so god knows

I have had to take the new pc to bits now as the case has been RMA'd so i guess ill be posting the same things after i recieve my new case and build it again

thanks for your advise
