Hi everyone,

So one of my mums friends has an older PC about 7 years old and recently it had a BSOD and wont load the boot file i guess its corrupt. I got a copy of xp and went to do a repair install but it is so badly corrupted it cant find any of the files to repair. I phoned her up and asked her if this would be ok but she told me she has a photo on there she really cant lose. She told me what it was and i understand why she wouldn't want to lose it. I'm thinking the best step i can take it put the hard drive in a different computer then plug in the hard drive and see if it finds it as a separate drive. As long as i can get the photo and as much other data from it i think she will be happy. When i have a backup of the data i will do a clean install and then copy the backup back onto the computer.

Before i go ahead and do it i thought i would come here (helped me many times in the past) and see if anyone can think of a better way to go about it?

Cheers in advance!

Hey andy,

thanks for the advice mate :)

i was pretty shocked when she told me what she does and that she doesn't take backups.

Thinking ahead and from previous experience, when i plug the second hardrive into my computer i doubt its going to recognize it? Anyone know how to make it accessable without formatting it? I think i did it before just can't remember how?

Cheers!
