BSOD on exiting games

Hey, I've built an updated rig in recent weeks and have been getting crashes every time I exit or tab out of a game or if I try run any sort of 3D software - Furmark and 3D Mark Vantage so far. This same BSOD error appears literally as soon as I click on exit or go run any of the tests.

I have checked the RAM with Memtest86+ which appears to be fine after 2 hours testing. I have updated all drivers including graphics ( ASUS GTS250 512mb OC Gear Edition), sound (on-board HD Audio) and Mobo chipset drivers (Foxconn Destroyer).

I have tried everything I can think of to sort this problem out, to no avail. Has anyone any other ideas or anything I could try?

Thanks in advance.

Ensure the system failure write event to log is checked, then look at the log and see where your problem is.. Too many things it can be for anyone on here to tell you why.

Could be anything from Power supply to bad GFX drivers.

Here's a pic of the BSOD Screen from my phone:

I've ran Prime95. I've ran Everest Ultimate and some of the benching tests therein, with no problems. The problems seem to arise during gaming, exiting games, tabbing out of games plugging anything into FP Audio connections, using GPU-benching software - furmark and 3D Vantage.

I have updated to the latest drivers, even tried the latest set released yesterday. I've now almost given up hope with this.

Is there a possibility the PSU is not powerful enough for the system?

Looks like a hardware compatibility issue somewhere.. I think your power supply is fine. You are not oc'ing are you?

Do this, get the latest BIOS for your board.. This is most likely a hardware conflict somewhere.

Then run this.. "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Could be a bad driver somewhere.

Good luck, these things are a little frustrating. But you'll get there..

I reckon a BIOS update is about 80% the culprit, then signed drivers the last 20%

So does it only happen with Furmark and 3D Mark Vantage, alt tab games

would suggest that graphic driver issue, did you wipe your old drivers off before installing new ones. Also are you O/C try system with default ram/cpu timings.

Are you running with limited services?

I've never OC'd anything in the system. I've everything set to stock since install a few weeks back.

I have updated to the latest BIOS using my board LiveUpdate feature which tells me it's up to date and has been flashed once to update from default BIOS to latest.

After running sigverif, I got this showing up in the results tab:

pcouffin.sys 15-Feb-10 1.37.0.0 Not Signed N/A

Any thoughts?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far. :)

I'd remove your dvdcopying software, that is the pcouffin.sys driver. See if that helps.. Especially as it's unsigned.

If that doesn't fix it, then in all honesty time to bite the bullet go for another re-installation of the operating system keeping everything clean. NO UPGRADES do a clean install, in other words delete the partition and reformat.

Had a few other ideas here.
Could be that default RAM/CPU volts aren't right.
I just noticed this: GTS250 OC-CM. I've been having the odd BSOD and have since reduced the overclock on my card. I've yet to determine if this is the cause but it's something else to consider. Overclocked GFX cards do seem to start failing after a while and you have to pull back a bit (in my experience anyway).

I've done a clean install and updated to the latest drivers from the get-go. All seems to be working well, no BSOD's (yet, touch wood) and everything seems to be running smoothly.

No doubt I'll find something wrong with it. :)

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys. :)

Sweet. You know, sometimes you've just got to bite the bullet and reformat. You can spend hrs trying to find the prob or two hrs wiping everything down and reformatting.
