BSOD on new memory - MA770T-UD3P

Hi All

I am unable to get new memory installed (2 x 4GB) without my PC giving a BSOD.

I have tried:
G.Skill Ares 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit - Orange
Samsung Green (MV-3V4G3D/US) 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel Kit [MV-3V4G3D/US]

- I have reset my bios to optimized defaults
- Tried single sticks in different slots

Should the above memory work with my motherboard?.
I've got a ticket with Gigabyte, but they do not seem to be able to give a straight yes/no.

The memory may default to 1.5V, I would try setting the voltage to 1.55 or 1.6V with this board and CPU, in the bios. Anything up to 1.65V is usually safe for DDR3.

Check in the bios that the memory clocks have been set correctly in the defaults. Probably 9,9,9,24 for CL9 G Skill and 11,11,11,32 for the samsung.

Have you tried running memtest from a bootable CD or flash drive?
 
I've not tried memtest yet as I assumed that it couldn't be a problem with all 4 sticks. It seemed to coincidental :/

I'm going to try the voltage change tonight, but I remember it being on 1.5 in the bios.

Running memtest now, 23% and still working. What would cause a bsod in windows if bios isnt the issue?

speeds are 11-11-11-28

Just passed Memtest with no errors. So this seems to be only in windows..
BSOD again "Bad Pool Header 0x00000019"
In CPUID is shows Voltage as 1.28v, but bios is saying "DRAM Voltage Control 1.620v"

BSOD seems to happen when the comp is under stress, i.e when I just ran a Windows 7 Index refresh, and trying to play Warcraft.

Ideally with Memtest86+ you want to do 3 passes. Bad Pool Headers are normally a result of windows memory allocation most are caused by device drivers.

Assuming you are getting 3 clear passes on memtest, the next thing I would check is your drivers are up to date. Specifically chipset/network/graphics/audio. I've seen at least one error such as this from a bad hard drive, so you could chkdsk it (assuming not SSD)? The other thing is to possibly try running "sfc /scannow" from an elevated command prompt.

So.
Cleared CMOS and rebuilt W7. The rebuild was planned, but one of those steps sorted the problem. Could have been BIOD misreporting, or as you say, bad drivers. All stable now :)
