evening all!, i have been having this problem for a while now, every so often whilst gaming, bf2,bfbc2, my system crashes with sound looping, i did notice the stop code of something like 0x000124 if that helps, not quite sure what the problem is here any help would be appreciated

Rule out hardware first by clearing the CMOS and loading optimised defaults.

Then update all GPU/Mobo drivers etc. If you're still having problems, then attempt to work out what software may be causing it.

I agree with LiamJ

I would suggest stopping the rig from restarting auotmatically on the BSOD so you can write the code down (this will help us source the problem). Try and get the system to repeat the problem and post the error code.

Make a note of your OC settings and clear the CMOS. Boot the OS in safe mode and uninstall the gfx drivers. If the system is stable when stress tested but only bsod'ing whilst gaming it could well be an issue with the gfx card/drivers. Did you OC the gfx card too? I'd revert that to default too if you did.

Go from there post back with what you find

This problem has nothing to do with your hardware, its been happening to a lot of people since the recent update. Its to do with punkbuster. Not sure what the best advice is but theres been a recent thread on here with the exact same issue and it got sorted by dealing with punkbuster. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18270110&highlight=punkbuster

I had the same problem when I was playing BC2, system would lock with the sound looping. Cant remember what I did to punkbuster, but whatever I did, it worked.

If its not punkbuster then its some other software issue. Very much doubt its a hardware issue.

Just read that thread, very interesing. I'll make a note of that. Seems that would be the place to start although you can't rule out driver or hardware faults completely.

From what i gathered the lockups are because of the pb servers, maybe the OP should try singleplayer gaming instead. I don't know how frequent the lockups are, if it cures it he knows it's punkbuster. If it still messes about I would go with what I already suggested.

Hope you get to the bottom of it quick, does sound like a very annoying problem
