BSOD - RAM Speed. Is it hardware related?

Run the "Memory Diagnostics Tool" search for it through start menu. I doubt motherboard will be at fault is likely the RAM stick. Looks like you might have to return it after all haha

Tried the windows memory diagnostic on normal bios settings and 1600 bios setti ngs, said no problems found but it continues to BSOd on 1600 settings.

So frustrated I just want it to work properly.

I take that back, with the 1 stick in now at the moment I keep getting errors in windows and crashes saying 'Shell Hardware Detection' has stopped working and things like that. :S

Sorry for another post, just tried the RAM in my brothers i5 PC.

It saves as 1600MHz in the BIOS but CPU-z only reports it as 1330MHz.

Is it safe to say it's the RAM that needs replacing?

Cheers

Try enabling XMP whist you have it in your brothers rig, just to make sure the profile is working.
While you are at it, try his ram in yours and see if you still get the same problems.

Yeah in his PC with XMP on that's where all the problems were. If you set it on auto it'd state 1600MHz but CPU-z reported differently.

His RAM is only 1333MHz anyway and only 1 4GB stick so not sure it'd be worth testing?

Cheers

Have a word with OCUK in the morning, see if you can take them back and have them replaced. Or swap them for another brand.

Is there any reason why the motherboard didn't detect the RAM at full speed in the first place? Could that indicate a mobo issue?

I get the same thing on my Asus board. Corsair dominator will not run at 1600Mhz despite all kinds of settings, I just get BSOD when windows is booting. Swap it into my partners system however and there's no issue at all, even tried swapping CPUs too to see if that was the problem but no joy, this board just doesn't like 1600Mhz but I'm not overly bothered since I would never notice the difference.

Sorry mate, looks like you'll have to stick with a working speed, I doubt you would have noticed difference at 1600MHz anyway :)

Seems like it. I'm just more worried though that the motherboard might be faulty?... It might be worth seeing if OcUK will swap me out for a different set of RAM. :)

I can run it at 1400MHz without issue aswell, think it would be safe just to keep it at that?

EDIT: Also this is half the page of the timings etc, not sure if anything obvious is sticking out here?

Ok guys so my brother is just going to use the Geil RAM I have now and I'll just get a new kit entirely.

What's the next best kit to go for guys? Suggestions please. :)

Thanks
