Hi Folks. I been getting BSODs lately and it is never the same numbers consistantly. Never had BSODS with any PC in over 10years, until now.
Was wondering if it was the Ram. My PC will go for hours or days with NO bsod then I'll get one for no reason. Or it will happen in middle of Photoshop or Publisher within minutes or hours of starting PC.
I have done a reFormat and installed Windows 7 64bit, but it still happened. so I did another ReFormat and Reinstalled Win XP Pro, leaveing out some programs just in case. Still doing it. Not Overheating. Here is a Picy of CPuz.
Can you see anything wrong within it. ?

Not sure if this link works. THANKS.

What hardware you running dude? . . . how old is it? . . .is the system overclocked? . . . .have you run any stability tests etc?

Image link isn't working?

Could well be your memory, could well be a number of other things . . .

Thanks. Was not sure if that link would work.
I don't like stressing my Ram/PC but I will give that memtest a try.
M2N-SLI DELUXE---AMD Athlon 64 x2 dualcore 6000+ @ 3.00ghz----2gb corsair xms2-6400c4 twinX dual ch kit. bought from ocuk sep 2007.

CPU-Z says core speed = 3015.3MHZ. Multiplier x15.0. Bus speed 201.02MHz.
Rated speed 1005.1MHz. Frequ: (in Red 3013.8MHz ) black 200.92*15.

RAM speed: 376.7MHz (unknown) @ 4-4-4-12
RAM is 2x 1024MB (6400) corsair, in slot 1 & 3

Anything else you want me to tell you. I will NEVER buy another ASUS mobo whilst I'm alive, that I'm certain of.
Cheers

By Stress Testing we are meaning running the hardware at full whack . . .which it is designed to do! :)

What you are suggesting is like buying a car but no being happy to drive it over 30MPH :p

Oh dear, I can see that you are being Stress Tested yourself . . . . I understand intermittent computer problems can be frustrating but don't start apportioning blame until you have fairly conclusive proof a certain bit of hardware is to blame! . . .I've used ASUS motherboards for several years for one simple reason, they never let me down yet, if they work flawlessly for me it stands to reason they can work flawlessly for you too! ;)

What you need to do is compose yourself and start the trouble-shooting proceedure . . . . maddness has suggested you begin with running a diagnostic on your memory and thats a good place to start, if that passes you will have to move onto the next piece of hardware and the next diagnostic, if you have the resolve we have the expertise to get you back to the happy place!

  • Power Supply?
  • Hard Disk?
bought from ocuk sep 2007

Would be useful to know what hard disk you have, same for PSU, I'd wager there is a higher probability of it being either your Memory or PSU or hard disk than it being your motherboard . . .we can suggest diagnostics for Memory and hard disk, the PSU will need to be tested using either a multi-meter or a dedicated PSU tester (£12) . . .

RussD, your image links are not working, try posting them up here, when you've done that copy the direct link and add the IMG code as seem below (without the *stars* either side), either that or click the Insert Image button in the forum toolbar and paste the url into that and let it do the code for you . . . remember to keep images a reasonable size and edit out the non relevant details such as desktop icons, gratuitous desktop space etc

which has left me with an AGP 9600 card + processor + Ram sitting in a corner doing nothing.
Well both the AGP graphics card and DDR memory can be sold for good money atm so take that as a positive (assuming they work!) . . . Not sure what processor it is but that could also be worth selling! :)

I've not used that motherboard before and don't know much about it, can you confirm it is this exact model please . .

we are waiting for you to run the Memtest Diagnostic, if you need a hand figuring out how to burn an ISO give us a shout!

Sorry for Delay Been very busy this way.
YES, this is correct mobo.
How long does it take to run a Memtest please.
I will then do this memtest and send. If it takes a long while I shall carry out the memtest tonight instead.
Thank You Wayne.

Hope this works. I know it works PERFECT from my Flickr account but I don't want to upload to that. would have thought it would work from my Zenfolio account, but looks like it won't, unless I'm doing something wrong.
THANK YOU for the link to enable me to upload to you. Hope it is usefull, though, knowing me it will be useless. LOL

That un has content protected by owner but I can see the other link I sent. Can U not see the image above?? Both are the same. I'm new to Zenfolio so I shall pop back in and take the Lock away.

Just spent over 1 hour 15min doing a Memtest. Did two passes.
This is the info I saw.
Memory : 2047M 3592MB/s
Chipset : AMD K8 IMC (ECC: Disabled)
Settings : RAM : 430MHz DDR861 / CAS 44412 DDR 128Bits.

PASS 2 zero errors.

I could not read what was below my screen. So if I was to press anything else I could not see what was to be pressed.

Heh so where are we . . .

Ok if Memtest passed two full passes thats encouraging, 10 would be better but I'll take what I can get! :p

If you say nothing is overheating the next two suspects that need to be checked out are Hard Disk & PSU . .

If you can download and burn the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD) and run the simple & advanced test on your hard disk that would be spiffing old chap!

Depending on whether or not that passes we need to think of a way for you to test the PSU . . .
