BT blocking file sharing sites

Source? I cannot see anything on the Internet indicating this.

Not that it really bothers me in the sense that I never use those sites, but it would be a concerning precedent to set

Glad I diddn't make the jump to infinity. I wonder if it's just DNS blocking, if so changing your dns server to googles or opendns might get round this.

"Panic over" you can still get your hardcore por.... Sorry nightly builds of Linux distros, the IWF temporarily blocked access to one or two filesharing sites for whatever reason, but reading on, BT either circumvented it, or the block was lifted.

I am sure there will be proxy sites people can use or ways around it.

Not that it bothers me as I am not with BT :)

I very much doubt this, on what grounds would they censor file hosting site? I will have a look when I get home though...

Why have they throttle the 2.5mb flash installer during peak time for, as far as I can recall, 4 years? Common sense is remarkably un-common in the business world :p

*hugs Be line*

Well I can't access the mentioned sites so its not been sorted yet, got any links?

Megaupload
depositfiles

and a number of others are still not reachable.

Edit. Changed my DNS to google DNS and they are back.

I think a something similar is happening with Be/O2 with fileserve and filesonic.

Been getting bad speeds, and blocks for last couple of days.

Occasionally get this message:
Attempting to download failed. The IWF has recently implemented changes that may affect your download ability on the site. Please contact your local ISP or upgrade your account to a Premium account now

Megaupload etc. are blocked by the IWF on almost a weekly basis because of the broken system they use. Although it's never been tested, it assumes they're guilty until proven innocent, something a number of them are getting tired of considering the basis for our legal system and their protection under the DMCA.

It's so easy to bypass it's practically useless http://www.beusergroup.co.uk/?id=468 .

That, sir, is a very good point indeed. :D

Man, all this throttling and whatnot makes me miss Sweden so much sometimes. :(

This is going to get worse now as time goes on, these file sharing sites like Megaupload, Rapidshare e.t.c just full of warez and we all know they are.

I've got quite a lot of uncompressed audio on Mediafire that I use to send to people as e-mail only allows 10mb attachments.

Are you saying that people still soon be blocked from Mediafire? In that case how can I send large files to people? :(
