BT Broadband - Is it really 'Totally Unlimited'?

I shall be calling O2 today to request my MAC over the phone. Can someone clarify for me:-

Upon receipt of request on the phone for a MAC, I am issued it and free to use it within 30 days. If I do not use it, it expires and I carry on with O2 as normal?.

Upon receipt of my MAC I can use it immediately and pass it to another ISP in order to sign up with them?. Once I have done this my new ISP takes over the situation from then and after a few days I start with the new ISP, no further interaction is required between myself and O2?. I am showing in my account details the following info:-

I am as far as I am concerned, on a rolling contract and as such free to leave at any time without any form of penalty (I didn't renew any contract in November as I wasn't sure if I was staying with O2 or not).

If someone could clarify the above points for me I would be grateful.

It will expire if you don't use it and you can carry on using O2 as normal.

I would notify O2 of the successful migration, just in case. In the past I have migrated from one provider to another and the old provider still billed me.

Thanks KIA.

Just called them. MAC being sent out via email after phone request. I'm not allowed to use it until the 12th of this month, if I do I will be charged a fee. I've to return the router etc in a pre paid envelope which is being sent out to me, within 30 days. I was offered free broadband for 12 months if I stayed with them and was informed that this offer was being reviewed daily so may not be available if I take too long to think about it. Hmmm.

So, a bit of weighing up to do now. They said that although Sky LLU wasn't available at my exchange my speeds would stay the same as the entire infrastructure is being sold to Sky by O2 so whatever equipment they have at the exchange is where my home broadband would still come from, that wouldn't change.

I'm still erring towards moving to BT though. But I'll need to think about it and make a decision fairly quickly as the BT offer I mentioned earlier expires at the end of this month.

Out of interest, how long should I need to wait for the MAC to come through to my email?. CS guy said 'usually immediately but give it a couple of days'?.
